Out of all of the four short stories, my favorite was “Wrong Channel”. One of the things I found most interesting was the opening scene. It gave me a very good visual of where the main character was at that place and time. Showing scenes are great for grabbing the reader’s attention, and this certainly did just that.
Another reason this was my favorite short story is after reading it twice I couldn’t understand what a television had to do with tuberculosis. After reading it the fourth time, I realized that the interpreter was not interpreting correctly.
The concept of place influenced each story greatly. I felt like this was the main theme the author tried to show in all of the examples. All of the stories show the idea of placement affecting the characters greatly, such as them not wanting to go to or be at a certain place. Mentally and physically speaking.
